Global Reach

One firm.
One regulated network.

Our clients rarely stay in one country — and neither does their capital. Hansa Perpetual works through a regulated partner-firm network, so the advice you receive travels with you wherever life and work take you.

We work with internationally mobile professionals in energy, technology, finance, healthcare and academia. Wherever you are, the same principles, the same team, the same sound financial planning methodology.

Our Approach

Built around your
cross-border life.

The questions that arrive at our desk rarely fit a single jurisdiction. We work where pension systems, tax residency and investment regulation intersect — and where most generalist advisers stop.

i.

Pension & retirement structuring

Strategic management of occupational and private pension capital across jurisdictions — continuity as you move.

ii.

Tax-efficient planning

Structures designed around where you live now, where you're headed, and the tax residency questions in between.

iii.

Investment strategy

Discretionary and advisory mandates calibrated to liability, currency and time horizon — not house views.

iv.

Wealth structuring & protection

Portable wrappers and structures built for tax efficiency, succession and continuity across borders.

"Cross-border wealth planning is not about one product. It is about structure — one that survives every move you make."
— Praniel Ladwa, CEO

Economics, Warwick University; Economics & Finance, Warwick Business School (UK's top economics faculty), plus professional investment advisory qualifications
Proven Track Record
Built a £500 million multi-jurisdiction wealth firm with offices across six countries as COO and Investment Adviser
Complex Case Expertise
Managed the firm's most challenging client relationships and escalated cases other advisers could not handle
Truly Independent
No corporate layers, no product-push, no bureaucracy. Personalised, objective advice via Swissential SA (FINMA F01185401)
Cross-Border Specialist
Deep expertise in Switzerland, European and global regulations and markets across six jurisdictions
Extensive Specialist Network
Vast range of specialist connections and professional relationships to deploy on niche cases

After a sports-filled youth growing up in the Cotswolds near Oxford, Praniel read Economics at Warwick University and then Economics and Finance at Warwick Business School, often cited as the UK's top economics faculty. Following this, he traded bonds, equity indices, and interest rates before taking on management roles across London, Europe, and the US, making business and trading decisions at the forefront of economic and geo-political news.

In 2010, he joined another adviser to grow a Swiss business into a multi-jurisdiction firm with close to £500 million under management, with offices in Switzerland, Malta, Spain, the UK, Cyprus, and the Philippines. As Chief Operations Officer and Investment Adviser, Praniel held several critical roles: serving on the Investment Committee, managing 20 advisers, handling client relationship management, and overseeing the firm's largest and most complex client relationships, including the cases other advisers escalated to him.

After more than a decade building one of Europe's most recognised cross-border wealth firms, Praniel chose to step back to spend time with his family, travel, and reflect. That pause clarified what he wanted to do and what the industry does poorly. He returned with a single focus: strip away the corporate layers, product-push, and bureaucracy to deliver exceptional advice directly to the clients who need it most.

At Hansa Perpetual, Praniel focuses entirely on what he does best: advising clients and solving complex cross-border cases. As a truly internationally qualified adviser with academic and professionally recognised qualifications, combined with professional and personal life experiences, he listens to your situation and resolves it in the most professional yet human way.

Leadership Team

Small by
design.

No call centre. No being passed around. You deal directly with the people who do the work — and the principal who has seen most of it before.

Praniel Ladwa
CEO & Wealth Manager
25+ years in international financial advice; former COO of MWC Group, where he helped build a multi-jurisdiction firm and handled its largest, most complex cross-border cases. Owns every client relationship at Hansa Perpetual.
Harry Gerrard
Private Client Manager
Leads markets, content and outreach. Builds the firm's research into target regions and the relationships that bring the right clients to the table.
Arjay
Operations & Systems
Builds and runs the firm's operational backbone — process, technical configuration and the systems that let a lean team deliver at a high standard.

Boutique by design, not by accident. A lean team is the advantage: the calibre of advice you would expect from a large firm, delivered directly — without the layers, the product-push, or the politics.

Six Principles

How we
practise.

Six principles, observed without exception. They define what we do, and just as importantly, what we decline.

i.

Independence in fact

No proprietary product. No issuer commission retained. Our compensation is disclosed, aligned and explainable in a single sentence.

ii.

Jurisdictional fluency

Every recommendation is reviewed against Swiss FinSA, the relevant EU country rules and UK pension regulation before it reaches the client.

iii.

Discretion as default

Clients are referred. Conversations stay in the room. Files are kept on Swiss infrastructure. Names are never used without consent.

iv.

Long-form thinking

We design for thirty-year horizons. Decisions are stress-tested against retirement, repatriation and the orderly transfer of capital.

v.

Structural restraint

We use the simplest structure that solves the problem. Complexity is a cost, paid in fees, fragility and time the client did not ask to spend.

vi.

Permission to decline

If a mandate is not the right fit — for the client or for us — we say so. Few practices do. It is the truest measure of independence.

Our Name

Why Hansa
Perpetual?

'Hansa' references the medieval trading league that connected merchants across borders — a network of trust, structure, and mutual benefit. 'Perpetual' reflects our focus on long-term wealth that endures across generations and jurisdictions. Together, they describe what we do: build financial structures that survive every move you make.

A Different Kind of Wealth Relationship. We are not a bank. We are not an insurance company. We are not a fund manager. We are a partner for internationally mobile professionals who need structure that works across borders — not products that work in one.

Hansa Perpetual was founded on a straightforward conviction: that the quality of advice available to internationally mobile professionals should not depend on the size of the institution behind it. Praniel brings institutional rigour to client relationships that are, by design, direct and personal.

Begin a Conversation

Structure that survives
every move you make.

A complimentary discussion of your pensions, investments and cross-border structure. No obligation — just a clear conversation about where you stand now, where you want to be, and how to get there.

Hansa Perpetual provides comprehensive financial and retirement planning to internationally mobile professionals. Whether you are building, consolidating or transitioning wealth across borders, we cover every dimension of your financial life — from pension structure and investment planning to protection, succession and tax efficiency across multiple jurisdictions.

i.

Arriving in
Switzerland

Onboarding & Setup

Your first 90 days set the foundation for decades of tax efficiency. We guide pension registration, 3A setup, and cross-border structuring before costly defaults lock in. Getting the first steps right prevents years of unwinding.

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd pillar registration and optimisation
  • 3A provider selection based on income and planned tenure
  • Cross-border tax treaty positioning
  • Banking and investment account structure
Learn more
ii.

Swiss Pensions

Pillar System

Switzerland's three-pillar pension system is one of the most robust in the world — and one of the most misunderstood by mobile professionals. We map the entire picture: AHV, BVG occupational pension, and voluntary private provision across your residency timeline.

  • AHV contribution optimisation
  • BVG coverage review and gap analysis
  • Pillar coordination for cross-border workers
  • Retirement income projections by jurisdiction
Learn more
iii.

3A & 3B
Pension Planning

Private Pension

The third pillar is the most underused instrument in Swiss private wealth. We design 3A contributions, 3B structures and staged withdrawals so they work in concert with second-pillar capital, employment income and the client's eventual destination.

  • 3A contribution & staggered withdrawal strategy
  • 3B life-policy and savings structures
  • Investment-linked 3A portfolio mandates
  • Cantonal tax modelling and beneficiary planning
Learn more
iv.

2nd Pillar
Transfers

Occupational Pension

For clients changing employer, leaving Switzerland, or approaching retirement, the second pillar is rarely a portfolio decision alone. It is a question of vested benefits, jurisdictional treatment, currency exposure and timing — handled correctly, it can compound for decades.

  • Vested benefits foundation set-up
  • Lump-sum versus annuity election
  • Cross-border consolidation review
  • QROPS / international scheme analysis
Learn more
v.

Leaving
Switzerland

Exit Planning

Departure triggers irreversible pension and tax decisions. We manage the timeline so you do not miss windows or pay unnecessary penalties. Whether you are relocating to the UK, EU, or further afield, the structure must be right before departure day.

  • 2nd pillar transfer vs. lump-sum analysis
  • Vested benefits account selection
  • Cantonal tax withholding optimisation
  • Cross-border portfolio restructuring
Learn more
vi.

Lump-Sum
Investment

Discretionary & Advisory

A liquidity event — an exit, an inheritance, a property sale, a redundancy — deserves more than a model portfolio. We build mandates around the liability the capital is meant to meet, the currencies it must serve, and the tax regime in which it must live.

  • Goals-based investment policy statement
  • Multi-currency portfolio construction
  • Direct securities & institutional fund access
  • Independent custody at Tier-1 banks
Learn more
vii.

Investment
Planning

Long-Term Mandates

For clients building wealth over decades rather than deploying a single event, we design ongoing investment mandates that adapt across residency changes, currency exposure and evolving risk tolerance. Structure first, product second.

  • Regular savings and accumulation planning
  • Active and passive blended mandates
  • Quarterly review & annual recalibration
  • Inflation and currency hedging strategies
Learn more
viii.

Education
Funding

Family Planning

International schooling and university costs require multi-currency, multi-jurisdiction planning. We structure savings vehicles that align with your mobility and tax position, ensuring capital is accessible in the right currency, in the right jurisdiction, at the right time.

  • Swiss education savings accounts (where applicable)
  • Offshore education trust structures
  • Fee currency hedging strategies
  • Grandparent / family gifting optimisation
Learn more
ix.

Life Insurance
& Protection

Risk & Continuity

Cross-border life insurance is not about products — it is about ensuring your family's continuity regardless of jurisdiction. We review existing coverage, identify gaps, and coordinate policies across borders so protection does not expire when you relocate.

  • Existing policy jurisdiction review
  • Term vs. whole-of-life analysis for expats
  • Beneficiary structure across borders
  • Trust and estate coordination
Learn more
x.

Multi-Jurisdiction
Structure

Tax & Succession

For clients with capital that will move with them across borders, the right wrapper turns a portfolio into a portable, tax-efficient, succession-ready structure. We work principally with Luxembourg and Liechtenstein providers, selecting the country, contract and mandate that match each client's situation precisely.

  • Luxembourg life assurance contracts
  • Liechtenstein PPLI structures
  • Multi-jurisdictional beneficiary design
  • Portability planning for relocation

Common Questions

How quickly can we meet?
Typically within 5–7 business days. Urgent requests accommodated where possible. Virtual meetings can often be arranged within 48 hours.
Is the first meeting really free?
Yes. The 45-minute fact-find is complimentary and without obligation. There are no fees until you have reviewed a written proposal and chosen to proceed.
Which clients can you take on?
We advise internationally mobile professionals — oil, gas and mining expats in particular — across Switzerland (via Swissential SA, FINMA F01185401), the EU (via NFS Insurance Advisers Ltd, Cyprus ICCS No. 5689) and much of the rest of the world (via FSN Ltd Mauritius, C116016070). We do not take on US-resident or US-domiciled business.
Our Approach

How We Work

Three meetings. Clear structure. No surprises. From first conversation to fully implemented strategy.

1
1 — 1.5 hours

The Fact-Find

We begin with a comprehensive review of your personal and financial landscape. This includes your residency timeline, nationality status, family structure, existing assets — property, cash, investments, pensions — and long-term objectives. We identify inefficiencies: too little growth, excessive risk, tax leakage. You leave with clarity on where you stand and what needs attention.

Deliverable Identified gaps and agreed priority list
2
1 hour

The Proposal

We return with a tailored strategy based on your fact-find, accompanied by detailed analysis and relevant reports. Every recommendation is product-agnostic and structured around your mobility, residency plans, and tax position. Our fees are disclosed in full — with fully transparent fee disclosure and straightforward explanations you can follow. You have time to review, ask questions, and refine before any commitment.

Deliverable Written strategy document with implementation timeline
3
30 — 60 minutes

Implementation

We complete applications, collect required documentation, and initiate the first steps. For regular saving solutions, the first contribution is scheduled after application processing. For lump-sum investments, the deposit is made upon confirmed instruction. We stay with you through implementation — not just until the paperwork is signed.

Deliverable Implemented strategy with ongoing review schedule
Long-Term Partnership

After Implementation

Wealth planning is not a one-time event. We schedule regular reviews — annually at minimum, more frequently if your situation changes. This includes residency moves, pension milestones, inheritance events, or market shifts that affect your structure.

You have a direct line to Praniel, not a call centre. No handoffs to junior advisers, no automated emails. The same person who designed your structure is the person reviewing it.

Begin the Process

The first meeting
is complimentary.

No obligation, no product pitch. Just a clear discussion and view of where you stand now, where you want to be and how to get there.

Cross-border wealth is not a single decision — it is a sequence of them, spread across decades and jurisdictions. Lifecycle planning is how we stay one step ahead of yours: the same team, the same methodology, adapting the structure as your life, career and family move across borders.

Stage 01

Arriving & establishing

A new country resets your financial defaults. We get the foundations right early — residency and tax positioning, pension registration, banking and the first investment structure — before costly defaults lock in.

  • Tax residency positioning
  • Pension registration
  • Banking & accounts
  • First portfolio
Stage 02

Building & family

Income rises, commitments multiply. We structure savings, protection and education funding so growth compounds efficiently — and so a move to another country never means starting over.

  • Regular savings
  • Protection & life cover
  • Education funding
  • Portable structures
Stage 03

Peak earning & consolidation

Assets accumulate across employers, schemes and jurisdictions. We consolidate the picture, calibrate investment strategy to your liabilities and currency, and remove the drag of fragmented, forgotten accounts.

  • Portfolio consolidation
  • Investment strategy
  • Currency & liability matching
  • Tax efficiency
Stage 04

Pre-retirement & transition

The decisions taken in the years before retirement are largely irreversible. We model the options — lump sum versus income, where to draw first, which jurisdiction to retire in — so the transition is deliberate, not default.

  • Retirement income modelling
  • Pension drawdown strategy
  • Jurisdiction choice
  • Sequencing of withdrawals
Stage 05

Retirement & legacy

In retirement the priority shifts to reliable income and an orderly estate. We manage drawdown, keep the structure tax-aware across borders, and put succession in place so your wealth passes as you intend.

  • Income management
  • Estate & succession
  • Cross-border beneficiaries
  • Continuity

Who We Work With

Professionals whose wealth
rarely sits in one country.

Engineers and executives in Kazakhstan's energy and resources sector. Finance, technology and public-sector professionals in Azerbaijan. Founders, consultants and remote professionals building from Tbilisi. What they share is a financial life that spans jurisdictions — and advice that too often stops at a single border. Hansa Perpetual works where pension systems, tax residency and currency risk intersect.

The Cross-Border Questions

Where a single-country
plan runs out.

The questions that reach our desk from the region are rarely about a single product. They are about structure — how to hold, protect and move wealth as your life moves.

i.

Currency exposure

The tenge (KZT), manat (AZN) and lari (GEL) can move sharply against the currencies in which you save, invest and expect to retire. We plan for that gap deliberately, rather than leaving it to chance.

ii.

Multi-jurisdiction assets

Property at home, a bank account where you work, investments held elsewhere. Structuring assets so they are efficient, visible and portable — not scattered across systems that don't speak to one another.

iii.

Swiss pension access

For those living or working in Switzerland: the 2nd pillar, plus 3a and 3b private provision. When you move, what happens to that capital — vested-benefit accounts, transfers and the windows you must not miss.

iv.

Retirement across jurisdictions

A career built in more than one country leaves entitlements — and gaps — in each. We map what you have accrued where, and build a single retirement picture from the pieces.

v.

Wealth structuring & succession

Portable structures for tax efficiency and continuity, and succession planning that holds up when heirs and assets sit in different jurisdictions with different rules.

vi.

Relocation planning

Whether a posting abroad or a permanent move, the period around a relocation is where most value is won or lost. We plan the sequence before departure day, not after.

Grounded Locally

Three markets,
three starting points.

The principles are consistent; the context is not. A brief note on what tends to shape planning for professionals from each market.

Kazakhstan

Tenge · KZT

A large, resource-driven economy where senior professionals are often paid and taxed at home yet hold ambitions — and family, education and property — abroad. Tenge volatility and capital held across borders make currency-aware structuring and clear residency planning the first conversations we have.

Azerbaijan

Manat · AZN

An energy-anchored economy with a managed currency and a growing base of internationally mobile finance, technology and public-sector professionals. Planning here centres on diversifying beyond a single-sector, single-currency position and building provision that travels with a mobile career.

Georgia

Lari · GEL

An open, fast-moving hub for founders, consultants and relocating professionals — many holding income and assets in several currencies at once. The lari's movement and cross-border residency questions make portable, tax-aware structures particularly relevant.

Considerations we plan around

  • Currency exposure across KZT, AZN, GEL and your savings currencies
  • Portability of pensions and investments when you relocate
  • Swiss 2nd pillar, 3a and 3b access for those with a Swiss connection
  • Tax residency between jurisdictions as your circumstances change
  • Succession where heirs and assets sit in different countries

Who We Work With

Professionals whose wealth
rarely sits in one country.

Executives and entrepreneurs building from São Paulo and Rio. Finance, mining and technology professionals across Santiago, Bogotá and Lima. Latin American professionals who have worked in Europe, moved within the region, or expect to again. What they share is a financial life spread across currencies and jurisdictions — and advice that too often stops at a single border. Hansa Perpetual works where pensions, tax residency and currency risk intersect.

The Cross-Border Questions

Where a single-country
plan runs out.

The questions that reach our desk from the region are rarely about a single product. They are about structure — how to hold, protect and move wealth as your life, and your currency exposure, moves.

i.

Pensions left behind

Retirement savings accrued while working abroad — in Europe, or on intra-regional moves — with no clear plan to consolidate or repatriate them. We bring the pieces into one picture.

ii.

Currency exposure

Holding assets in BRL (or CLP, COP, PEN), USD and EUR at once leaves you exposed to real volatility. We plan that exposure deliberately rather than leaving it to chance.

iii.

Complex tax exposure

Dual filing obligations — Brazil taxes worldwide income — and unclear treaty relief can create real complexity. We structure with tax visibility in mind and coordinate with specialists where needed.

iv.

Mobility & residency

Professionals relocating for work need portable, compliant structures — not country-specific arrangements that don't travel with them. We build plans that move when you do.

v.

Planning for life goals

Children's international education, retirement abroad or at home — planned with a clear sense of what's realistic given currency and market exposure, not left to guesswork.

vi.

Access & stability

Political and economic swings can make long-term planning feel unreliable. Many local providers are limited to domestic products; we open access to quality global investment advice built for the long term.

Grounded Locally

One region,
several starting points.

The principles are consistent; the context is not. Brazil is our primary focus, with active coverage across Chile, Colombia and Peru.

Brazil

Real · BRL · Primary focus

Our primary market. Professionals here face worldwide-income tax rules, real volatility against the dollar and euro, and pensions accrued at home and abroad. Currency-aware structuring and consolidation are the first conversations we have.

Chile

Peso · CLP

A mining- and finance-driven economy with a mobile professional class. Planning centres on diversifying beyond local markets and building provision that travels with an international career.

Colombia

Peso · COP

A growing base of internationally mobile finance, energy and technology professionals. The focus is portable, tax-aware structures and access to global products beyond domestic offerings.

Peru

Sol · PEN

Professionals with income and assets across currencies and, often, time spent abroad. Cross-border residency questions make consolidated, portable planning particularly relevant.

Considerations we plan around

  • Currency exposure across BRL, CLP, COP, PEN and your USD / EUR holdings
  • Consolidating pensions and savings left behind after working abroad
  • Worldwide-income tax rules and treaty relief, coordinated with specialists
  • Portable, compliant structures that travel with a relocating career
  • Access to global investment products beyond domestic-only offerings
Our Edge

Global perspective,
local trust.

Most advisers serving Brazilian and Latin American professionals think locally — portfolios concentrated in local markets, local currency, local risk. We don't. We bring a global perspective most competitors in the region simply don't offer, helping clients diversify away from the currency swings, political uncertainty and instability that come with keeping everything tied to one country.

A genuinely global view

We look beyond domestic markets to diversify away from single-country currency, political and market risk — the exposure that makes long-term planning feel unreliable.

Advisers who speak the language

Advice in Portuguese and Spanish, from people who understand the region firsthand — so clients get the global safety and stability they want, with the local trust they need to act on it.

One plan that moves with you

We bring the pensions, investments and savings you've picked up along the way into one plan that makes sense — and look ahead with you, wherever you end up living.

Professionals move freely across Europe — and their wealth should keep pace. Through our EU-regulated partner network, Hansa Perpetual helps internationally mobile clients structure pensions, investments and protection so that a move between member states is a change of address, not a financial reset.

Draft — for team review

Cross-border pensions

Coordination of occupational and private pension capital as you move between European jurisdictions.

Portable investments

Investment structures designed to travel with you, without triggering avoidable tax or restarting the clock.

Tax-aware planning

Structures built around where you live now, where you are headed, and the residency questions in between.

Local considerations

  • Tax residency and treaty positioning between member states
  • Portability of pensions and wrappers across the EU
  • Currency exposure for multi-country households
  • Succession rules that differ by jurisdiction
